Barratt have not even completed the first house on the estate the are working on at Newbiggin by the Sea in Northumberland but alresdy have the residents of the only access road up in arms.
Somehow they were granted planning permission to build 44 houses on a small plot of land just behind the Front Street, it is surrounded on all 4 sides by houses, there is no viable access as the obvious access is owned by somebody who is determined not to sell it.
I am trying to highlight the problems of the residents who are trying to exist while Barratts do their worst.

We bought our house new from Persimmon in July 2000. Since then we have had problems with internal and external cracking which for four years Persimmon refused to take seriously or investigate the root cause.
The NHBC were contacted and eventually independent engineers were appointed to monitor the house. The house has moved and continues to do so due to clay heave.

In protest to the shoddy estates cropping up around the country, he plans to build his own suburban housing estate, to prove it can be done properly. But first he needs your opinion and advice... he wants to talk to the people who live in, rent or own modern homes and find out your experiences, whether good or bad.

Builders Bellway Homes North East jumped into action when I asked for an explanation about Andrew Hutchinson's complaint.
Andrew told me how his new home needed various repairs after he moved in.
Now the Newcastle-based company has given Andrew top priority to clear his list of outstanding problems.
Bellway will re-surface the crumbling drive at his house in Houghton- le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, after initially refusing to do so.
