When you buy a newly-built home it would be understandable to assume that if there are any little problems you will have recourse to put them right. Not so, says a company that checks the quality of new build homes.

According to New Build Inspections, buyers of newly-built homes would have more rights buying a toaster. The company reports that consumers are surprised by how few rights they have when it comes to buying a new home, so managing director Catriona Bright has produced a short guide to help new build buyers with new homes riddled with snags and defects.

She said: It is absolutely shocking in this day and age that home buyers spend-ing hundreds of thousands of pounds are not guaranteed a property finished to a reasonable standard and consumers have so few options when trying to get the builders to deal with defects.
