Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Worth every penny - truly a great book
When we were given this book on our essential reading list I thought man, that book's expensive, I have another physiology book do I really need it. Well it's worth every penny! You know how it is you buy some books and they look good on the shelf and gather dust, not this one, it was so useful as a quick reference and for sheading light on topics I was clueless about.

It has handy tables for quick cramming moments and good diagrams.

The student online info is very good also - you can access the book online saving carrying it around with you.

I'm certainly glad I bought this book, it was very user friendly in layout, I won't be selling it for sure.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Only as introduction
Very easy to read and understandable. All areas are well explained. But it is only good as an introduction to physiology. As a medical student I found this book not very useful. I would definitely recommend to read it but if you are looking for ONE physiology book I wouldn't go for this one.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A very visual Physiology Textbook
At nearly £50, Vander's might seem a bit pricey for a physiology textbook, especially one which is such a flimsy paperback as this (with a distinctly uninspiring front cover). However, it would be wise not to judge this book by its cover.

The book is well organised with a wealth of information. Speaking from the perspective of a medical student, this book covers everthing under the topic of physiology you will need for the course.

The greatest strength of this book is the diagrams, they are always helpful illustrations and a large number of flow diagrams - very useful indeed for understanding complex body systems and feedback loops. I find this most useful, being a very visual learner. The text is also well written.

At my med school there is about a 50/50 split of users of Vander's and Pocock & Richard's Physiology textbook. Having used them both, I found that I did not like the latter due to its lack of diagrams and style of writing. However, some people do seem to prefer it to Vander's, so my advice would be to get both of them out the library and see which one you prefer before you buy one.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An Amazing Book
This book was recommened to me by a friend of mine, and it is the best physiology book around, by far.
It explains the systems of the body in clear and consise text, and introduces the topic from the very basics. It reinforces ideas by referring back to sections of the text well, and includes flow diagrams after a detailed chunk of text, to break the information down.
It also includes colourful diagrams to aid ones revision.
I purchased many other physiology books prior to this one, but have never gone back to them!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - superb book!
its a must buy for first year biomedical science students, has everything you need to know for the first year. its packed with great diagrams, easy to follow, and most importantly you have it all in this one book.
