![]() Rating: - The most useful cookbook I've ownedCan't recommend this book highly enough. While it may be 15 years old now it is still my favourite cook book. While trends have changed there is just so much useful information in this book that I keep pulling it off the shelf. In the introduction, Richard Girling describes it as 'a mother of a book indeed'. What he means by this is that it will tell you everything about cooking that your mother should have but probably didn't. It absolutely delivers on that. But it offers more too with it's sections on the cooking of different regions with contributions from Raymond Blanc, Anton Mosimann, Yan-Kit So, Valentina Harris, Richard Crawley and Rafi Fernandez. This was a different era and, despite the well known names above, it is refreshing that this cook book was created not simply to promote a restaurant or chef but to help people at all levels get more from their cooking. It's certainly done that for me. Try searching the Internet for ""Sunday Times" Cook's Companion" or Ebay for ""Sunday Times" Cook's Companion".
