![]() Rating: - Stylish, theory explained well, good range of examples. I knew this was the book I was looking for when, in the foreword, Kevin admits that he "had long since suspected that low-voltage (halogen) downlighters were not the universal panacea to lighting problems" and thinks "their glare and sharp shadows (are) highly inappropriate to most domestic situations" The book then works through five different types of lighting - Ambient, Accent, Task, Decorative, and Kinetic and explains how to use them together to achieve a particular mood or theme for the kitchen, bedroom, garden etc. The homes featured come from a reasonably broad base of styles, and the technical section is helpful. As a newly-qualified electrician, this book has been beneficial in being able to help customers choose lighting which is appropriate to them and their homes. It's probably available from your local library so you may be able to compare other titles there.
