Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent book
This book is very easy to follow and helped me greatly during my degree. It is Much Much better than "Engineering mathematics by K.A Stroud" which was on my reading list (and is now an expensive door stop)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I just don't know who would read this book...
I was forced to buy this for the first year of an MEng course and the level of the material just didn't seem right. The first several chapters revise addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Eventually it reaches the level of A-Level maths, which should be a pre-requisite for most engineering degrees anyway. The only things that I hadn't covered before starting my degree were laplace transforms and fourier series.

I guess it could be a good book for revision, but who really has the time to read a 1000 page book on topics they know inside out?

So in conclusion, its probably a good book for the niche market of people who dont have any mathematical background and want a foundation for technical learning- perhaps technicians trying to go professional.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - excellent!
I have found this book invaluable during the first year of my BEng course, it is clear in its explanations and always seems to follow the simplest most systematic way to solving problems.

I think this book is particularly good because it starts off with the basics and works you up to a high level, so it is particularly good if you dont feel too confident with your maths, there are plenty of worked examples and questions to attempt to help you gain confidence.

Having looked at most other maths textbooks in the library this year i have always found this the clearest and most user friendly book, so for this reason i recommend it to anyone in the first year of a BEng course.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lots of information thats easy to digest
If you need to learn or re-learn maths for any particular reason and you have enough time to sit down and work systematically through a book, this is the one to get. It has a clear reader-friendly layout with lots of highlighted key points to remember when it comes to revision. The chapters are split up into blocks and there are questions at the end of each one which build up to an end of chapter test, so you have plently of opportunities to test what you have read. A very good buy, especially for those who are weak at maths.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - good paced well worked degree level text book
this is a rather good book. there are plenty of good examples within it and is well layed out. it is easy to find parts which you are looking for and has been very useful to a poor BEng Engineering student! The book was recomended to the students by two of the universitys best Engineering Mathematical lecturers. From a student point of view, it has been useful throughout the lectures yet more useful within my private studies. This is due to the lay out of the text.
