![]() Rating: - What a read!Well what can I say? This book had me gripped from beggining to end. I couldn't put it down. The plot was fantastic. I could totally relate to Libby and I'm sure many other women could too. I don't usually leave reviews on books but I felt with this book I just had to let everyone know what a book it is. I was so tempted to jump to the last page to see what was going to happen but I'm so glad I didn't. Much praise for Jane Green. Rating: - fantastic read!!!!I have only read jemima j by jane green and that was fab - have to say this book did not disappoint - a nice girly read - i finished in a day! and the relationship that libby has with her best friend reminded me so much of me and my best friend - you can really relate to the characters in this book - definitely recommended - will be reading more of hers! Rating: - Jane Green knows a good chick-lit...Ok, this book isn't Jemima J which in my opinion is Green's best work to date however, it is amazing in its own right. Libby is a 27-year old who works as a PR. She would love to afford the finer things in life & live a lavish lifestyle with a dreamy millionaire but one night out with her friends changes Libby's dreams for the better. She meets Nick, a charming & sexy aspiring authour... whos on the dole and doesn't have any money to support himself let alone Libby. As Libby falls for Nick things take a turn in a different direction and land her in the arms of Ed. Ed is everything Libby used to want... but is she loving the lifestyle rather than the guy? Rating: - Libby is unlikeable which is a big problemI like Jane Green's books, I really do despite how predictable they often are. The reason I have only given three stars for "Mr Maybe" is because Libby is shallow, superficial and a gold digger. To really enjoy a book you have to relate to the main character or, at least, empathise with them. When they begin to grate on my nerves, or I'm indifferent then I just can't enjoy the novel in the same way. Ms Green is one of the reigning Queen's of contemporary chick-lit, but she has written far better than this, and I think it's frightening to think that there are Libby's in this world; women did not chain themselves to the railings for us to then go on and "vote Conservative because our parents do". Rating: - 'Unputdownable'Much like some of the other reviewers, this was the first Jane Green book I ever read, and as a result of it she became one of my favourite authors! "Mr Maybe" tells the (painfully accurate) story of a woman faced with a (man-involved) dilemma. How will she choose between the rich, doting but clumsy-in-bed Ed? Or the smooth, living-on-the-dole Nick? This book is slightly predictable but you just can't help but love it. This is just one of the books Jane Green has delivered with excellence, flair and wit, and it completely 'unputdownable' so to speak. I was hooked right from the first page until I finished the book, and even then I was overcome with sadness, knowing that the book was over. All the way through Jane Green managed to make me smile, even laugh out loud (which made me look like a right weirdo when I was reading it in public!) Jane Green's work never disappoints - she's fantastic. I can't wait til her next book. Try searching the Internet for "Mr. Maybe" or Ebay for "Mr. Maybe".
