Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Not one of Clancy's bestThe worst Tom Clancy book I've read, although I suspect he hardly wrote any of it. Laboured plot, interesting subject matter but not enough made of it. Not in the same league as his Jack Ryan or Ops Centre novels. Borrow it from a library, but don't buy it. Rating: - Sarcasm in KazakhstanSo it isn't a red blooded Clancy - It's full of waffle and the plot is overwrought, but let's give it some praise. The idea of derailing a train by electromagnetic pulse is ingenious, just a shame that so many people have to die. This is pretty similar to SSN, though with too much characterisation (that usually makes you want to go and do something else) and not enough plot. Best advice is to stick to the master and don't buy anything with Mr Greenberg's name on it. Rating: - Decidedly average with occasional moments of brillianceWith regard to most of the book I am in complete agreement with firts reviewer - the book does seem to have been written in an attempt to make money from readers expecting a classic Clancy novel. They will be sorely disappointed. Shallow characters, boring dialouge and a laboured plot work together to make the reader wish that they hadn't started. They only element that made me finish the book was the occasional good action sequence (the only parts of the book actually written by Clancy himself, I suspect). Borrow it from a library, but please think twice about buying it. Rating: - Power Plays Are A ConSorry to disagree but I feel that all the powerplays are just a con and this is no exception. Does Clancy really have any involvement in the writing of them? I have read everything in print in his name and I doubt it. This is as bad as his own are brilliant. Complete waffle from first to last with page after page filled with dissection of various characters for no good reason other than to fill space. This is garbage written to make money off the back of a famous name. It makes you feel angry and well ripped off. Why did I buy it? You live in hope that with Clancy's name attached it might have something to offer. Wrong big style. Consign it where it belongs. To the dustbin. Rating: - Fantastic! A work of art! This book is up there with the Bravo Two Zero and the Delia Smith how to cook Book Two. It's that awsome. You have to read it. If you don't, Commit Suicide!
