![]() Rating: - A great book for all levelsThis book is great. I came to uni with a D in Maths but finding this book was a godsend. It takes you by the hand and teaches you maths in an enjoyable way. There are lots of examples to enable to learn and get that aha moment in all areas. With this book, I never strayed below 70% in all my maths exams. I know of many engineering professionals that have kept this book from their uni days and refer to it every now and then. A great book to ease the tough course. Rating: - There are better booksNo enough examples, hard to find things, strange formatting and not very easy to follow. This was a recommended book but I found "Mathematics for Engineers: A Modern Interactive Approach by Anthony Croft and Robert Davison" Much better. Also used mathscentre.ac.uk for a lot of things instead. Rating: - K.A Stoud K.O's any other author in presenting a book such of the likeness of Engineering Mathematics.Whether you are in secondary education studying simple rules of indices and powers, or whether you are doing a degree in Engineering Electronics/Mechanics.............IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE! Never has any author explained in such amazingly style and presented mathematics in such explicit and outstanding detail. Stroud starts from basics such as integrals and binary number to areas such as calculus application and he explains to you all his work as if he you were a 7 year old, plenty of worked examples and exercises, never have I come across such a book. HEARTLY RECOMMENDED! Rating: - This book saved my life!Never a great fan of mathematics and only got through maths A level by cramming and learning a load of stuff by memory without really understanding it. When I went on to do a degree in electronics maths was an integral part of the syllabus and it was the one part of the course I was dreading. Then somebody recommended this book to me and I bought it out of desperation and hope. My God! What a revelation, for the first time here was a maths text book that helped me to understand exactly what was going on and took me step by step through increasingly difficult problems. I actually enjoyed using it, and that's something I never thought I'd say about a maths text book. Once I understood what I was supposed to be doing I started to enjoy doing it and my confidence grew. At my first year exams I actually got my best marks in maths. I never would have believed it possible at the beginning of the year. It's not a heavyweight maths text book but it's ideal for people who need to do maths as part of a technical degree course. Rating: - good bookVery good book for physics and engineering. Probably is the easiest to use degree level maths textbook you can find for these subjects, and for this alone its well worth it. It also feels very complete and starts from the barebone basics that should have been covered in A level maths, allowing you thereby to brush up on the basics. This structure I very much liked, even though I had to skip to a third of the book to find anything new! As a note of caution though, I felt the section on vectors was a little limited, and could have had greater scope.
