Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Patronising Filler. Complete waste of time.
I enjoyed Joyner's books The Irresistible Offer, and The Great Formula, so was disappointed by this pathetic attempt at a book. The book's subtitle should be changed from 'The Simple Science of Getting What You Want' to 'Mark Joyner Explains To A 6 Year Old How Mark Joyner's Really Smart, And You're Really a Fool Who Fails To See Through Politicians, Marketing, Government Propoganda, and Arguments From Your Friends and Family'. The pages of the book are dripping with contempt for ordinary people. His 'exercises' take 'obvious' and 'patronising' to a whole new level. I'm sure readers will be shocked to hear that politicians and marketers try to mislead them (yeah, right!). Thankfully Joyner explains a few logical fallacies and Influence techniques so you'll be less gullible. A complete waste of time.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Complete Waste of Money
I bought this book after getting Mark Joyner's The Irresistible Offer and The Great Formula (these two books are great value for money). I should have known better though, because Joyner started to get lazy with his second book--THE GREAT FORMULA (by getting his buddies to write 85% of the contents). Anyway, Joyner used this book to tell us how clever he is. He talks about things that have nothing to do with managing your life. He wants you to sign up to his site (which I did but have since unsubscribed) and what you get are 3 to 4 emails everyday with more sells letters to sign up for the "Advanced Simpleology Course". The book is filled with a lot of fluff and only contains 5 of the "21 RULES OF SIMPLEOLOGY". To get the remaining 16, you have to register with his website (I told you the guy is smart). If anyone tells you there are 21 Rules to Simplyfying your life (and you are prepared to believe it), then you have fallen for the "Law of The Authority Figure".

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sound advice!
This book wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. I expected another book on the law of attraction similar to "The Secret" and other books. But this one was different. It's sprinkled with advice throughout which sounds common sense and simple but the advice is comprehensive.

Joyner goes beyond where many other books in this field have stopped, offering practical steps to apply to your daily life. Some of those steps at first sound odd but after you think about them you realize this guy's giving you some sound advice. I also enjoyed reading "Nexus: A Neo Novel" - another book that went beyond my expectations.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A helpful guide on how to get what you want, simply
Do you often complicate things so much that achieving your most important goals becomes difficult, if not impossible? Do your viewpoints and attitudes about how the world works get in the way of your success? Do seemingly impenetrable barriers inhibit your progress? Do these obstacles have a negative impact on your thinking, self-confidence and ability to keep moving? Are you going in circles? If so, Mark Joyner has some ideas on how to get out of that stultifying rut. In his new book, Joyner shows you how to break out of the prison of your mind and start seeing things more clearly. Most importantly, he explains how to get precisely what you want. Joyner's book is a bit disjointed, and perhaps its practical application is not as simple as the author proposes, though the additional materials on his free Web site help. Nevertheless, Joyner is an original and eclectic thinker, and we find many of his concepts interesting and enlightening. Hopefully, they will enable you to move ahead more directly and get where you want to be.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - www.divinetime.com
I wrote this review for my newsletter, if you are interested in subscribing to `Love Your Life' newsletter, please go to www.divinetime.com now and subscribe. In the meantime I hope you find my review helpful.

This book is written from a scientific point of view, with the aim of giving you the reader a better understanding of how the world works in terms of thought models and actions. Throughout the book Mark gives plenty of examples in a role play like format, which proves very helpful in giving a clear perspective of decision making processes. The book is made up of four parts, as in four mini books within the main book itself. Each next book builds upon the area cover in the previous part. So with this book you would benefit reading it from beginning to end rather than just dipping in.

I will pick a couple of areas in the book to discuss to give you a little information about its content. The first section I want to talk about, which is a running theme throughout, is that of language. Mark has expressed very precisely and given an insight to; how communication is used, what passes by the conscious mind and why and how-to evoke certain emotions, which in itself is a shocking awareness to have. In itself it is just words on a page, but learning to use and aid your own interactions is quite profound.

It is very much what NLP (neuro linguistic programming) consists of, but the breakdown of the information draws your awareness to it and it is very intriguing indeed. There is a segment discussing the power of words, their emotional charge and how they make you feel. Once you entangle emotions into the equation, then rational and logical (left brained) thinking goes out of the window, to use such a metaphor. But thinking becomes clouded over by perceptions and feelings attached to those words. Don't get me wrong, I also understand there is a time, place and need for logical thought. But what this demonstrates how easily conflict can be created.

Much communication is out there to appeal to our emotions, rather than logic in order to persuade you the listener/receiver. This is why much of the communication we have goes under the radar so-to-speak, without you having a truer understanding of what mechanics are really at play, what is really going on. These techniques are used constantly in communication around us, from religion and politics, to news, media, marketing and more.

Another area of the book is about pseudoscience, which is often based on faith rather than science itself, yet is expressed in a scientific way and indirectly controlling you. If you have evidence you are more likely to believe, and science is evidence based, but pseudoscience is based on the principle of faith which is also a belief, however doesn't have the back up and proof to sufficiently support or refute use or function.
Which for me, as a coach is interesting in as much that, I use scientifically tested tools and techniques which are based on taking action and not a gizmo full of promise. You are in control of it working and not the other way around. You are able to model too, which also in the book it talks of the pro's and con's of this method, but many examples shows how it has worked. Pseudoscience however works for some and not for others, which I am repeating myself, but is why faith plays a larger part of results achieved.

The book presents you with much information to be able to decipher for yourself about making more informed decisions both about the world around you as well as in your personal understanding of how you grasp what is going on around you in your own life.

I am finding it quite challenging to write an objective and unbiased review for this book without quoting massive chunks of its contents due to its simple intensity if I can express it that way. It is very much based on language and logistics, it is also supported by scientific studies which form the base of the contents giving you an understanding of how they fit into life as we know it. The format of this book is lovely, well spaced out easy on the eyes ad thus easy to read. As I said each part of the book builds on the previous text and the further I got into reading the book the less able I was to describe certain aspects without losing you the reader into the unknown. I certainly think it is a good read and would recommend that you read it for yourself as I feel I can do no service to it, by trying to capture what's good about it in more words.
