 Rating: - Superb photos and a nice range of architectural styles.Being a 16 year old who is aspiring to become an architect my views may not be as pin-point as experts, however, I think the book excellently advertises the profession, showing what can be achieved by good quality design and construction. Throughout the book, different styles of buildings are examined, from organic houses to buildings which suit the needs of busy urban areas. Each part of the buildings are examined with detail and are compared to the greatest buildings by architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Sullivan. The majority of buildings are accompanied by plans, orthographic projections and comments by the author explaining the significance of the buildings. What I found made me appreciate the book and attracted me to the profession were the superb photographs of each separate construction. Many buildings are viewed from complimentary angles and a specific house, the Truss Wall house by Ushida and Findlay even uses time elapse photography. To sum up the book, I found that while it provided information about the buildings shown, it also cross referenced well to other more famous buildings and architects. It had breath taking graphics and was presented in a very down-to-earth simple yet affective way. A superb book, which would compliment anyones bookshelf.
