 Rating:  - AmazingThis book is amazing, heart wrenching and brutal. I could not put it down. It seems so honest and gives a real insight into what people go t hrough with alcohol and drug issues. It also shows how love can touch us and what a determined human being can achieve... Rating:  - Read itI read this a few years ago, loved the book and couldn't put it down, it's stayed with me since. After reading I looked up the book to find similar ones, or other fans and came across the sequal (Which was available at my library too [:) and all the pages about if it's an autobiography or work of fiction. I don't mind either way, I enjoyed the book, and its sequal, and now want a copy for myself to re-read. Rating: - Buy this bookIgnore all negative reviews, media hype, preoccupations with how 'true' this account is...It is an excellent book, an excellent piece of writing, unique style, an addictive read, it pulls you in, engages - a purchase you shall not regret. Rating: - Great Read.I can understand people feeling dissapointed when they found out that parts of this book had been fabricated, it's because when we feel something is really and imagine it actually HAPPENING it has more appeal. But in terms of the book, it is a brilliant read. Cannot put it down. The writing is strange, but it is fitting for the story that is being told. Rating: - a work of inspiration, shock and total honestythis is a book that shocks,disturbs but in the end inspires. i bought it for a wide range of friends with varied attitudes and backgrounds. they all without exception couldn't put it down and were moved by it. its about one man's inner strength, about total and utter commitment and a level of determination that should motivate anyone to confront anything. its written in a unique style which embodies the author's approach to dealing with his demons. even IF it is fiction or just embelished (as some people have alleged), if you don't come away inspired to fight your vices, fears and the dark periods of your life, you must be missing something. his sequel, my friend leonard, is different, but a must read too.
