![]() Rating: - great funmore a mystery story than a romance but still great stuff. keeps you intrested as i couldnt put it down and read it in an afternoon. Rating: - One of her best.....This is one of the author's best. I read her Regency romances when I was in high school and now am re reading them. (I am 51) They are as charming and well written today as they were when first published. I highly recommend all except an Infamous Army. That was the only one where the romance didn't make any sense. Rating: - THE TOLL GATEI Have read all georgette heyer novels this one is in the same style as the unknown ajax and the nonesuch, in this book captain john staple is a wonderfull hero and there are a lot of characters from a bow street runner to a highwayman I liked this book as it has a charm all of its own. Rating: - The Toll-GateThis is classic Georgette Heyer, gentle and terribly well mannered with a typically spirited heroine. John is a worthy suiter and the eventual outcome is pretty obvious from the start. However the many twists in the plot and the immaculate attention to period speech and costume are as wonderful as ever. I've read over forty of her fifty or more published works and this would creep in at about number 10. Try it, then try The Grand Sophy, in my opinion the incomparable Heyer at her finest. Rating: - My favourite Georgette Heyer so far. This was the second Georgette Heyer I read, having been given an old copy by my Aunt. Being very tall myself I identified with the heroine Nell and fell in love with John. Their romance and the background mystery made the whole book a delight.
