 Rating: - A Penny Well SpentA good read which is done an injustice by the name 'penny dreadful'. The book is a giant at around 1000 pages and is about an A4 sheet of paper height wise but is wider then a A4 piece of paper, but this also includes about 300 pages of reviews, several of the shorter 'penny deadfall's', critical essays and an introduction. Essays include a comparison of the story with Stokers Dracula. Making it useful for any student studying aspects of horror, Victorian, or gothic literature. The story is a little difficult to get to grips with due to the language (being nearly 200 years old). But it is still an interesting and enjoyable read to just put your feet up for. And it is a great pity that this book is so rare and difficult to get hold of now, but worth it for the work and the extras which came as a pleasant surprise as there was nothing about them in the description.
