![]() Rating: - I normally never buy/use textbooks but this is an exception!Impey is definately worth purchasing. I have just come towards the end of my obs and gynae attatchment, and have been using it for a week, and wish i'd started earlier! It's definately concise, and probably readable cover to cover in a week if you push yourself. I normally never use/buy textbooks or consolidate my learning like I should, and after panicking at the thought of my upcoming exams brought this last week. I think its brilliant, covers each topic sufficiently and prepares you for exams. I'm reading this cover to cover, and using it as a revision aid by highlighting the book - something completely unheard of for me, and not possible with most books! It's an excellent, informative, concise read and the at a glance boxes consolidate your learning. It's also a lot more readable than Crash Course. Definately 100% worth buying. I just wish there was a similar text for Paeds! Rating: - Fantasticand dare I say, all you need to pass O&G exams. Very well written and excellent layout. Rating: - Good bookThis was the book recommended by the course at Imperial. The content is good but doesnt really go into great detail about certain things and if you want to know everything about this field of medicine then its probably not the book for you! However if you dont care about knowing everything about this dry subject (like me), then this is probably the book for you! I found it very helpful and simple to read and if I was doing o+g again I would recommend this book. Rating: - How to learn O&G in 10 days... I did.Surely not I hear you all cry! Yes and I assure you, you can do the same with this handy text. This has to go down as one of the best texts I bought whilst at medschool, ranking up there with the Oxford handbook and Surgical talk (not Lissauer though - miserable book). The 2 sections are clearly defined and well laid-out, the information is concise (thank god) and the 'at a glance' boxes summarise the content in precisely that way. Also, it is handy enough for one of the more dedicated members of your firm to carry around with them without you needing to. Undoubtedly others will prefer a more comprehensive text that will 'guarantee' a prize/A/first etc. If however, you are like me i.e. have a fairly limited interest in the subjects(!) then Impey will more than adequately cope with your needs and assist the clinical work which is of vital importance in these specialities. In summary, a great textbook that treats both aspects of Obs n Gynae with equal merit whist putting emphasis on the 'need to know to pass' rather than the 'need to know to get an A'... Just don't leave it to the last minute... it wasn't pretty. Rating: - Obstetrics + GynaecologyLet's face it, anyone with a scrotum should rightly hate this speciality. That being said, Mr Impey makes a good job of covering a huge amount of clinical material, and current scientific knowledge. Thorough knowledge of this little tome should see you right.
