Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Where to start building the perfect kitchen.
Where to start? I suggest you buy this book. My wife saw her dream kitchen in an up market showroom, trouble was the cost. When I looked at it for all its fancy details it was made of mdf boxes with planted on face frames. This book sets out in a very methodical way how to build this type of kitchen offering alternative methods of construction and finish at every stage. I started by making the author's collapsible workbench as space in my workshop is limited. Brilliantly simple but solid solution. I then opted to build the boxes from birch ply using a biscuit jointer and machined the face frames from Sycamore with my Triton table saw and router). Finally, I handpainted the finished article (painting was far and a way the most timeconsuming aspect and with hindsight, I would opt to spray paint in line with the authors guidance). Total cost including buying the timber, tools and of course the book. One satisfied wife. I agree with other reviewers that the book is aimed at the competent amateur/professional but is rich in useful advice and tips. I recommended it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An Excellent Book
This is the book to buy for anyone who wants to build a kitchen that is a cut above the cheap mass-produced ones available anywhere.

More suited to the keen DIYer or professional than complete beginner, Jim takes us through the entire process from design and measuring to fitting. As a cabinet maker myself this book has helped give me the confidence to add fitted bespoke kitchens to the range I an offer my clients.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Do you want a flat-pack kitchen?
If you prefer to design and build your own traditional-style kitchen, then this book will take you through the whole process step by step. Pitched at the experienced DIY-er or professional, the author instills confidence from his long experience. The US cabinet styles cross the Atlantic well, though the measurements may need some adjustment for UK metric standards and fitments.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - a quality well thought out book
I manufacture kitchen cabinets for a living. I found this book to be very well thought out.I found myself agreeing with most of what was written and I also picked up a few handy hints up on the way. Certainly worth purchasing if you want to become a practical and efficient kitchen cabinetmaker. A lot of sensible suggestions on offer.

T. Holmes Joinery.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Easy read with pleanty of detail to absorb
