![]() Rating: - Brilliant book!!!I first picked up this book on a charity stall for myself but have since bought copies for others.I thought I was organised and tidy but after reading this book I realised I was just storing 'stuff' which I did not need or even look at.Don Aslett writes in a witty way and makes it easy to chuck your clutter. This book is a must for anyone (or knows anyone)whose life needs to be simplified. So read this book and start freeing up your life!! Rating: - WOW! I was surprised!I am not going to waffle for hours. I thought I was beyond help, I am SOOOO sentimental and can't bring myself to bin ANYTHING! This simple and easy to read books, in some ways, states the obvious, but it makes you think about things slightly differently or in a more complex way and somehow, even though you know what to do with your junk, enables you to actually get rid of it! Something I never thought possible! It helped me to look at my junk and life in black and white, without letting emotions hold me back from ditching this horid, draining stuff that has accumilated for so long! Highly recommended! If it can help someone who gets sentimental about clothes labels, carrrier bags and receipts, not to mention the usual gifts from loved ones etc, it can help YOU! Rating: - brilliant! This book is really good. I read it over a weekend (along with "Lose 200 pounds this Weekend"), in between decluttering sessions - thanks to this I was able to get rid of over 1.5 stones (22lb) of paperwork, along with a lot of other items that were either thrown out as they were no longer any use, or were donated to charity as they had a lot of use left in them but were not getting used. If anyone is feeling overwhelmed by the amount of STUFF in their living space, or in storage, or wherever that they ought to have control of but do not feel that they do, then I would definitely recommend this book. The other one to consider is the FlyLady book (by Marla Cilley) as this gives a very similar viewpoint, with further strategies to follow in ridding your space of the intruder that is clutter. I have ordered all of the other Don Aslett books that I can at this time, and highly recommend him as an author. Rating: - A 'jolly' way of looking at yout life's storage & what to doDon Aslett writes as tho' he has lived in nearly every type of household (at least the most unruly of the lot). This is not to say that he is not organized...oh contrar! He makes such good sense of ridding ourselves of unneeded clutter and gives answers to HOW to do it! A delightful book to read for anyone who has ever faced any kind of dilemma in getting uncluttered. One of the very best uses I found for this book was Now in particular so many of the "Baby Boomers", myself included & so many friends are going through this 'nightmare' of cleaning out & goint thru' lifetimes of treasures in order to help our dear parents try to adjust to a new way of life:( At least Mr. Aslet's book gives humor to the whole unpleasant subject.) The least any of us can do is try to put as much humor into a very painful task which creates huge emotional & physical changes for those we hold so dear! Humor always seems to take the edge off pain. So, put this book to work, you will be pleased!:) Susan Tyler, Auburn, CA Rating: - It has given my life new hope and direction.Thank you Don Aslett for your wonderful book about dejunking. I stored a van load of boxes and furniture for 5 years at a cost of nearly $200 a month while we lived in Texas. We came back with yet another van full and crammed it and the storage into our house. Working with your book for 6 months, I have begun to see a light out from underneathe the clutter. I have found things I needed and shared or given away 30% of the rest. It is a good start. I enjoy the bonus sections on personal and emotional clutter. The book is uplifting with its touch of humor about the junk we take so seriously. Thank you.
