Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
Stephen King has been for so long the master of the thick blockbuster horror paperback that it is salutary to be reminded of the quieter writer of shorter, tighter stories that he also is. His new novella could hardly be simpler--a nine-year-old girl, smart and resourceful, gets herself lost in the deep woods when she strays off the path for a moment and struggles to survive with a little food, not especially sensible clothing and a Walkman. One of the threats dogging Trisha is her imagination--she is an smart enough child to know how much trouble she is in and gradually to personify the wasps, and midges and dangerous animals, as a God of the Lost. And that imagination is also her strongest resource--she has a baseball cap signed by the Red Sox pitcher Tom Gordon, which becomes her talisman. This is a story of almost pure sentiment and suspense; King has always had fascinating insight into the minds of children and a command of detail that makes him the ideal writer of certain sorts of shipwreck. The almost minimal material here--a single character, what she has on her, and deep woods--make this one of his most gripping and compulsive tales. --Roz Kaveney

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A superb short story, allthough not Kings best work.
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is such a short book; it cannot even be described as a novel. It is a story, not demanding alot from the reader but a superbly written and suspenseful story.
I found this book quite tiresome for about 70 pages at the beginning. It begins in such a conventional, unoriginal way without much action. But just as i was about to put this book down, it got seriously good. You start to find yourself get more and more pulled into Trisha's story, sympathizing with her and becoming attached.
One thing that I was hoping for was a more psychological point of view, drawing on the relationship between Trisha and her father and mother more, but I don't think psychology was the intention for this story.
I didn't give this book 5-stars because it didn't blow me away like some of Kings other work, and I don't think he put his whole effort into writing this but it was well worth reading all the same.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of my favourite Stephen King Books
I really loved this book. It's creepy but isn't really horror which doesn't bother me because I think I would love Stephen King's writing whatever genre he wrote. In fact this is one of the reasons why I particularly like this book as it isn't disturbing or gory.

The book has a simple but solid plot with a proper ending. The main character is endearing and the setting is wonderfully described.

I really recommend this book, particularly if you are new to Stephen King and put off by the fact that he is known as a horror writer.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best King book in years
No there is no plot, not much horror but it is story telling at it uttermost best. Well done Mr King!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Insipid
It's not horror.

It doesn't have a plot.

It is predictable.

Ok if you have nothing to do for a few hours in the airport. Certainly not one of King's best.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A little book, a little hero and a great story
Stephen King can write a thriller about virtually anything - we all remember the one which happened mostly in one locked car and another one in which a guy is chained to a bed for the whole long story. Here we have a little girl lost in the woods of Maine, who is roaming lonely for days in the wilderness. Seems dull? Well, my dear friends, you are soooooo wrong! I am not revealing you anything but I finished reading this book walking, because I just couldn't seat still during the last pages! Amazing little book, which you can swallow in one evening - and then make some nice nightmares during the rest of the night!
