Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Brilliant beginning...
...however as the story progresses it all gets a bit ploddy and I found myself losing interest as to whether the mystery is resolved or not.

Special Agent Will Trent and Detective Faith Mitchell are thrown together to unravel this case. Will features in 'Triptych' but in 'Fractured' Karin concentrates more on developing his character, more than one aspect of which is worked nicely in with the story. Both he and Faith are realistically written with interesting histories and mini plots of their own and and I liked their developing work relationship.

The message running through this novel is the importance of families and a feeling that you belong. Some characters having been denied a loving family, others not realising what they have until it's too late.

Whilst the momentum wasn't sustained throughout, it was still an enjoyable read and I'd definitely read the next novel featuring Will and Faith.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - good but not great
i have been a fan of karin slaughter's books for sometime and love her grant county series but i feel her will trent novels (fractured is the second in the series)don't hold the readers imagination enough and the characters don't have the same appeal to the reader. i feel that most of the characters appear hollow with no real depth and no significant likeable quality, unlike her grant county characters. i found the story interesting enough - its basically involves the brutal murder of teenage girl, with the addition of a law enforcement assumption, human error, kidnapping and the usual mystery surrounding it all and we should have had a quality thriller but it just doesn't make the grade i'm afraid. its worth a read but not on par with her grant county series

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Lacking the usual Karin Slaughter talent
The plot is a not a new one. In fact a recent comparison would be Kernick's "Deadline" which I feel was written with more grit and interest than Slaughter has in this work.
The beginning was so promising with an explosive beginning and immediate twist. Afterward the plot seemed to plod along in an unspectacular way. I found this really surprising as Slaughter is a great writer who normally has the reader hooked right up to the end.
She does create strong characters and "Fractured" is no exception with Special Agent Will Trent and Faith Mitchell being expertly well-drawn throughout.
This was just lacking the usual talent of Slaughter - hopefully the next work will see her back to her true form.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - fractured plot
Usually, I love books by Karin Slaughter. However, this book started out with a bang, got downright boring, then ended with a fizzle. Will Trent is a good guy, but this book didn't bring out traits that made him interesting. I was totally disappointed with this book/\.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Close but no Cigar (this time)
Been there since the start with Blindsighted which in many ways was a total 'can't put it down' experience. Tryptych was much the same but introducing Will Trent as the main Character. I was fully expecting another thriller to make your toes tingle but this just fell a little short. The story is a good one, and I urge you to go and read it - just don't expect fantastic value for money (this time)but it's still worth your hard earned cash!

No, *wow* moments no sharp intakes of breath as you read and no expletives when Slaughter knocks your socks off with her writing. A good solid basis for a crime/thriller but not a 5* read that would get you burning the midnight oil.

Try searching the Internet for "Fractured" or Ebay for "Fractured".
