![]() Rating: - Truly a book about cats, rather than another auto-biography in disguiseBeing a lifelong incurable cat adorer, I am always on the look out for books about the feline species. However, most specimens I have tried so far have been either too brief, boring, or more often than not merely the authors' autobiographies in diguise, with more of the books being spent on themselves than on the main subject in question, i.e. cats. Tom Cox's book, however, fitted the title and my requirements perfectly, and was the first book on cats I had picked up and read from cover to cover in a while. You could see his devotion to the species leaping out from every line, every page, every chapter. Every single one of his cats took on their own character and was given their own space. He even managed to make me fall in love with the malignant sounding 'The Bear' by the end of the book, which was no mean feat considering this was a creature that initially sounded like the cat from hell! Finally, not only did this book fulfil all my criteria of what a cat book should be like, I thoroughly loved the style, wit and humour with which it had been written. Truly a cat lover's book - are there any more coming?? Rating: - Under The PawBrilliant, so funny, if you're into cats then you will love this and it's so well written!! Rating: - If you "own" a cat..you MUST read this....I loved this book...Tom Cox captures the human owning nature of cats exactly. At times it made me laugh out loud. The kind of book you slow down reading as you near the end because you don't want it to end. Looking forward to the sequel! Rating: - Not as funny as................."A Cat called Birmingham".... But that may be no bad thing... I love his rules on feeding his cats - made me laugh out loud - got a frown from my hubby!!.. I AM A CAT WOMAN - sadly with only one Cat!!.. I am sure given the choice I would have a few More... I want to hear more about The Bear, Bootsy, Pablo,Janet and co.... Keep Writing Tom... Rating: - Mad Cat Man Does Exist - Fortunately! Can a man who's a rock music critic, keen golfer and totally potty about our feline friends find nirvana in Norfolk?! With his wife and cats! Part autobiography, part meditation on the feline of the species, part situation comedy, Tom Cox's book bristles with anecdote, wisdom and some very funny moments - some sadness too, but don't let that put you off. It's a lovely read, and that's why every reviewer up to now has given it 5 stars. How he copes with it all proves that men as a species can multitask - with a little help from his feline friends! You get to know each cat's individual personality, and realise that as a species they are unique. If you love cats, you will love this book.
