![]() Rating: - Fantastic Beginner's GuideI bought this book whilst I was looking for my first home. In a couple of days, this book had managed to dispel my worries by providing an easy-to-follow overview of the house buying process. All of the key issues that should be contemplated before buying a house are discussed, such as where to buy, what type of house to buy, how to choose a mortgage/solicitor/surveyor. What's more, the book is well laid out and very easy to read. I seriously recommend it for first-time buyers. Rating: - Novice to knowledgeableThis book is excellent! It is an under estimation to call it a step by step guide. This book outlines the whole house buying process from start to finish in easy to understand terms. Not only does it tell you what to do, but also how to do it. It is filled with case examples which highlight the pros and cons of differing decisions to be made. It describes in detail what must, could, and should happen in the buying process, together with tips and suggestions in case it doesn't. Importantly it also considers the effects of new legislation and how the current process will be affected by this. Prior to reading this book I found the house buying process to be daunting, but after reading it feel confident and enthusiastic about it. I wish I'd had this book many years ago when I bought my first home. Rating: - An indispensible guide - everyone should read this.Adam Walker makes a complex subject easy to understand. The book is extremely readable and interesting; I wish I had read it before buying houses in the past. It is divided into clear sections and has useful highlights for the most important information. A real must - it could save you a lot of money and mistakes. Rating: - Know the score. This book provided all the information I needed to sucessfully buy a flat. When you tell friends your about to buy somewhere you hear a thousand horror stories of what can go wrong reading this helps avoid becoming one of those stories. This book details the process of buying and selling, what can go wrong, and advice with how to handle each stage. I am the only person I know who would recomend a solicitor and that is down to chosing him by using the advice in this book. If your going to buy, buy this first! Rating: - A useful guide to buying a house in the UKThanks Adam! Adam Walker provides insight into the house buying process that I found invaluable when recently buying a house for the first time. Even those who are regulars in the housing market are bound to find a tip that will more than justify the purchase price. For example, there are useful tips on choosing a solicitor and negotiating the purchase price. The book is up to date (as at October 1999) with current housing legislation. I found the book very useful in reducing the risk and unknowns of the house buying process. I knew what I was doing when ordering a search and felt confident when negotiating the price.
