 Rating:  - Very big but not very thoroughThis was one of the first things I bought when I first got into Flash, because I wanted something which would be comprehensive. This was very big and seemed to have details on everything I would want to cover. I also thought that, because it's the most advanced in the series I wouldn't have to go out and buy more books. Well I was wrong; I learnt a lot and it does work well to simply read through, but I've found several aspects of Actionscript - working with custom classes is the one that springs straight to mind - that this just doesn't cover, and I've found much more useful material on-line. So yes, very readable and very big, but not sure it justifies the price tag. Rating: - Flash 5 Actionsripting in several chapters of examples.Actionscript studio is a well presented tutorial covering advanced scripting features. Each topic is covered in depth, often with alternative methods of achieving the end result, the reader can make comparisons as with the 3D chapter. Though sometimes code heavy, I welcome the adopted aproach by the authors, that avoids a step by 'exacting' step, method so often seen in computer tutorials. This is a book that can be used as an introduction to programming, though beware of the maths! I've used it to introduce me to the way that Flash5 uses actionscripts to give greater control to the designer... Rating:  - If you plan to use Flash5, this is a "must have".I bought some books about Flash 5 and it's actionscript, but this one I think is the best one. It merge "easy reading" with "deep technology". After reading the book, you'll learn lots of tips and technology issues. Much better than having a training. This book is not the usual reference guide, but a real teacher on your desktop. Very actractive also the case-study: a must-read for every webdesigner.
