![]() Rating: - Hooks you in and keeps you there!I finished reading this book earlier today and am still thinking about it and am regretting that I came to the end of it. This was a really gripping story of the effects of war and living as a homosexual in a time when it was illegal. I was initially reluctant to read a gay book by a female author as wasn't sure she'd get it right but she got it better than nearly all gay male authors. The love stories are dealt with realism and are also heart wrenching, as are the aspects of war which I found have a depth of emotion I haven't yet read with a fictional book of war but reminded me of my histoy lessons at school but with characters I really cared about. I loved the writing style and the way it jumped from present to past, it reminded me in some ways of the brilliant book "Now and Then" which is one of the highest compliments I can give this book. I loved all the characters and really want a sequel although I know one isn't necessary. A brilliant read from a brilliant author. Rating: - Sexy ReadReceived this novel for Christams and read it over boxing day & night - so pacy it's hard to put this novel down even to eat another chocotlate...The Boy I Love is written in a great, straight forward style, no boring bits at all, no unnecessary adejectives or long descriptive (yawn...) passages, just fast & sexy and totally enjoyable. I see Husband has written 3 over novels - so that's the next few days sorted for me... Rating: - Written for women?Given the subject matter maybe this is not a likely audience but I am left feeling that this book was written for a female audience. I did read it fairly quickly but was not captivated and would not seek out this author again. Rating: - OMGThis was a fantastic book, I just couldn't put it down, and when I did, I just had to pick it up again! The characters were so strong and the imagery is imprinted on my mind. Marion Husband paints such a strong picture. I just wish it could have kept going. A stunning novel. Rating: - The Boy I loveWOW! This is the only word that comes to mind. If you are looking for FANTASTIC then this is the book for you. Never having written or wanting to write a review I felt compeled to let other people know what a gem this book is. I have just finished the sequel and it is just as good.(If not better). Others have written what to expect so I won't say it again but the story flows like smooth silk sheets. Even the graphic accounts of war are handled with grace, as are the love, duty and honour. Paul, Patrick, Mick, Margot and even Adam will remain with me forever. Especially Paul and Pat.
