![]() Rating: - Best book available on gardening in the MediterraneanI use this book constantly, the practical advice is taylored to anyone creating a garden in this region. My only complaint would be that it is tough to find the plants she recommends in the nurseries. Rating: - Novice gardenerIm starting my first garden and learning along the way. This book has been so very helpful. Highly recomended if you dont know where to start! Rating: - an interesting and informative readi didnt quite know what to expect but on receiving the book was thrilled by the contents . it covers more or less everything the British gardener needs to get going . I am a totally novice gardener and although i can't pretend to know the plants mentioned the full glossy photos greatly assists me in deciding what i want and the description of the plants, trees and shrubs aids me in deciding whether they are going to be suited for me in my garden. ANYONE wishing to venture out in this subject then i recommend this book on your book shelf and can guarentee it will be well thumbed . Acredit to the author Rating: - The Best Book Available For Mediterranean GardenersFor anyone considering the best approach to stocking a garden in the mediterranean, and only wishing to buy one book, this is it. The book doesn't tell you how to design a garden in terms of landscaping, features etc. but explains in great detail what plants will be happy in a garden that receives little or no irrigation in the rain free summer months. I have bought several books to help me plan the garden of our new home to be built in Mallorca but this has been the most useful and inspirational of them all. Heidi stresses that you need to go with the climate to be successful and to use plants that are drought tolerant. In this way you save the limited and expensive water resource that you would need in the June to August period. Does this limit your choice? Heidi offers you around 1,000 plants, shrubs and trees that need little or no attention many of which can be grown from seed. My research has shown that about 80% of her selection are available in the UK from Chiltern Seeds at Bortree Style in Cumbria so there is no need to search out what you require in the relatively limited garden centres in Spain. The book may seem expensive but it is excellent value for money. Rating: - A must for gardeners in SpainI consult this book (the Spanish version) constantly, as it not only gives you great ideas for planning your garden but also has a very user-friendly index of plants, with advice on propogation and lots of photos. Highly recommended. Try searching the Internet for "Mediterranean Gardening: A Waterwise Approach" or Ebay for "Mediterranean Gardening: A Waterwise Approach".
