Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Does exactly what it says.
I have only really just tested this product (because I have put it away for xmas), but it does exactly what it should under Windows XP with my Viking 512Mb SD card. Top job.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - XP all good, 2000 all bad!
The solution to all my problems of transfering data from 1 pc to another, or so I thought! I have 2 pcs, one with 2000 and another with XP. Having read the instalation guide no driver was required so I plugged this device into my pc with 2000. It seemed to take an age to open up a very small folder and in the end crashed before even accessing the file data. Tried the same thing with XP, accessed the data almost instantly. Tried to install the driver onto 2000 machine in an attempt to eliminate the problem, it now gives me an error message. Also the contacts do seem a bit scratchy and cheap. Conlusion; if you have xp this is a cheap and compact solution.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Seems to damage SD cards.
This reader installed quickly and with no problems without using the supplied CD even on an old Windows ME laptop.

However, on inserting and removing my SD card (Sandisk Ultra II 512MB), the reader seems to be scratching the card's metal contacts quite badly. So far, the scratches seem like nothing more than a cosmetic problem, but I'll be buying a new card reader soon anyway.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great, and not to be without
This is a great peace of equipment for what it costs. If you happen to have a great camera or MP3player but are having problems getting data to and from it, buy one of these with out delay. It lets you transfer any type of data to your SD and MMC Cards in a flash *pun*

More than worth the cash, however it looks nothing like the picture for some reason, but that won't affect your using it in anyway.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Bytestor SD/MMC Reader
This card seems slow to me. I have not seen any other SD readers in action but it takes several minutes to transfer just 3 jpegs of 1Mb each. It also has habit of stopping and producing an error message as it finds images that I deleted from the camera. This means that I have to stay there by the PC and nurse the reader through the interminable transfer process. I have an up-to-date PC but maybe there is a compatibility issue her with my Nvidia-based hardware. However, the software that comes with it is very good - much better than the Kodak Easyshare programmes that came with the camera.
