Editorial Review: Product Description: The Kenwood Food Slicer is suitable for cutting bread, all kinds of meat, cheese, and vegetables. The variable slicing control means slices can be cut from wafer thin to thick and chunky, whilst the sliding food carriage includes finger protection for added safety. The blade is removable, making it easy to keep clean, and the non-slip feet and cord storage help keep the slicer securely in position for added safety. Please Note: All electrical products sold by cookinstyle (InStyle Products Limited) are supplied with a UK 3 pin plug Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Hopeless for homemade breadLike other reviewers we bought this slicer to use with the excellent Panasonic breadmaker, based on the generally good reviews. But we soon gave up on it and it is now on its way to a jumble sale. As others have stated, the sharp curve on exiting the blade causes our breads to break up. Plus the blade really struggles to get through the crusts, so it takes forever to cut a loaf. I'm not sure if it's a lack of sharpness or lack of horsepower which makes it so feeble. Either way, it hasn't done the job for us, just as well it's relatively cheap. Rating: - Absolutely uselessWe bought this because of all the positive reviews saying it was excellent for homemade bread, but it's HOPELESS. Blade is unbelievably blunt (my husband was able to hold his finger against it whilst operating it without getting cut!), rotates so slowly that it takes around 10 mins to slice up a 2lb loaf, and the exit angle for the cut slice is so wide that (as other reviewers have noted) it just splits and mangles fresh bread. After attempts to modify it so that it might possibly be some use, we gave up and bought a manual slicer on Ebay - much better! Rating: - Tears homemade breadI don't understand how so many other reviewers have found this works as well as they say it does. Only one other person describes having the problems I have with this. Unless you chose to slice the bread very thick, the slices tear as they try to get out through the curved exit. I only bought it to slice my own stoneground wholemeal bread and it is not a success. Rating: - SPARE PARTSContrary to one comment, spares, including blades ARE available from the kenwood uk web site. Rating: - Fantastic !!!This machine is great I had one about twenty years ago (don't know what happened to it) and its just the same now as it was then. Having recently purchased a panasonic bread maker this slicing machine makes life so much easier unless you like your bread sliced in wedges. Its cuts bread as thick or thin as you want and it doesn't drag it. I'm pleased with it as without it the bread machine was going into the upboard and you know how things never resurface once that happens. Great for cutting joints too!
