Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
Although at first glance it looks like a movie dreamed up by a marketing committee (and in some respects it probably was), Space Jam actually defies the odds against it to become a dazzling display of family entertainment. There's a kind of demented genius to the idea of casting NBA superstar Michael Jordan in a live-action and animated movie co-starring the beloved characters from Warner Bros' Looney Tunes cartoons. They play off each other like seasoned veterans of vaudeville, and Jordan never falls into the kind of awkward, amateurish showmanship that you might expect from a sports idol. He's comfortable in the cartoon land of his co-stars, who include Bugs Bunny and sexy newcomer Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Sylvester & Tweety, Speedy Gonzalez, the Tazmanian Devil, Foghorn Leghorn, and Yosemite Sam. They've all been hijacked to an outer-space amusement park run by the Nerdlucks, who strike a Faustian bargain with the Warners' heroes: if Bugs and Co. can defeat the Nerdluck "Monstars" in a basketball game, they'll win back their freedom; if they lose, they'll be doomed to stay there forever as enslaved entertainers. So they kidnap Jordan as their coach and "secret weapon" while the nefarious Nerdlucks suck out the basketball skills from such stellar victims as Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing. It all leads to reckless abandon on the basketball court, and Bill Murray pops in for some hilarious support. Combining traditional animation and computer-generated Nerdlucks with its live-action cast, Space Jam was made in the anarchic spirit of the original cartoons, where anything goes as long as it's funny and off-the-wall (or the ceiling, or the door, or the floor...). Technically astounding, it's also witty enough to entertain adults and kids alike. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Believe It Or Not, An Absolute Classic
Space Jam as a movie has always held a special place in my heart. Being 12 years old as of this review, I have to say this movie has aged really well. Starring a real comic legend in Bill Murray and an acting great, Danny DeVito doing a voice over; this movie was destined to succeed. The real surprise for everyone was the performance of Michael Jordan. Although not exactly Sidney Poitier he did his job of being the face of this movie and when you make a movie with basketball as the main focus, you couldn't not have Michael Jordan.

The story goes that aliens from a theme park world named Moron Mountain, need a new attraction. Whilst throwing around ideas the evil boss, Mr. Swackhammer decides that he must get the Looney Tunes. He sends his cronies to Looney Tune land and get the Looney Tunes; whether they want to or not. The tunes not willing to go quietly challenge the aliens to a game of basketball in which, if they lose they have to work at Moron Mountain. Forever. Before the game, the alien team become known as the Monstars and they steal the basketball abilities of some of the greatest players in the NBA. The Looney Tunes know that the only way they can win this game is to kidnap Michael Jordan and have him play on their side.

This is a genuinely fun movie that is good to entertain the whole family. The effects aren't groundbreaking, but to see the Looney Tunes in a new adventure gives us some great nostalgia. Like I said, Michael Jordan isn't made to be an actor and it's shown in this movie. If you're one to go into every movie and criticise acting ability then I would suggest you leave your brain at the door for this one. An overall great movie that all the family can enjoy.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Welcome to the Space Jam
With its funny dialogue and interesting characters the 1996 hit is able to produce the laughs required to make a humorous animated comedy fun for the whole family.

Michael Jordan stars as the central character who is going through the different stages in his life with basketball and baseball. He is kidnapped by the Looney Tunes who need his help to win a basketball match. The story line is extremely predictable but humorous nonetheless as we see a variety of stories, Michael's life, life in Looney Tune land and on the clichéd bad guy mountain, humorously titled `Moron Mountain'.

Many classic Looney Tune style jokes and events are used by the familiar characters: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner etc. A lot are repetitive and exaggerated but are chuckle some for the family. A lot of events used are very coincidental so the sense of realism is low but the whole idea is great, predictable but audiences can appreciate the humour and emotion the characters are going through and share their feelings.

The effects are well used. Combining real life people into an animated world creates an interesting concept for the audiences. Having the film set at a variety of places allows the film to expand and create a variety of different issues for the audience.

The acting by Jordan is average. When talking to his team he seems incapable of getting to his players, whether that's his style we can only assume but he is able to pull off many jokes and keep the audience hooked whilst he has to deal with many changes in his life.

The soundtrack is fantastic. R Kelly's infamous `I believe I can fly' is encoded to emphasise a strong belief for the characters.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Everybody get up... it's time to jam now!
In 1997 i was 9 years old. I went to the cinema to see the latest loony tunes film - but this one has a twist, real people actually feature. But this isn't just any real person. It's chicago bulls superstar micheal jordan.
Ive loved this film for so long and thinks its great for kids, teenagers and adults to watch. Funny and a great watch, anyone whos a fan of loony tunes, basketball, cartoons and just having a laugh this is a great film for you!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - in 1 word simply amazing
Wot an idea wot a film buggs bunny at his best! He got 2 no his role very well i have never seen him act so good. The little turn big monster basketballers play the role of bad guys brilliantly i am still baffled tht they didnt get floods of offers of big directors after this film. Michael Jordan adds a nice mix 2 the film with a very good story of him leaving baseball 2 return 2 basketball.!!!!. A tres bien (very good little kiddy non french non cumin space jam lovers) ending 2. Very well thought up , reminded me of 1 time wen i managed to fit a whole burger from mc donalds in my mouth , It jus did ! Great film buy it now also buy fanta, zesty berry!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - good though not great
this is a good famaly film with the loony toons but it lacks in emagination, could do with a few tweaks here and there. by all meens get it but dont be to suprised if you find it a bit boring.
