Didn't want to give it even 1 star Rating: - Don't BotherMy experience is as per the other 2 reports. It just can't cope with anything above the smallest twigs and jams up, it runs flat in less than 15 minutes, and the switch is unreliable requiring lots of strong hand grip and a particular technique to keep it running. Absolutely don't buy it. I wish I hadn't. Rating:  - GTC610 HedgetrimmerThis is a very convenient trimmer and works very well with Privet type hedges. Particularly pleased with the way it cuts cleanly through the wispy bits that my old trimmer just mangled. I do agree that it is not so happy with more robust hedges such as thicker hawthorn twigs but it is not really intended for heavy duty work. If you want this then buy a petrol one. The real treat is being able to pick it up and wander as far as you like in your garden without the hassle of unwinding yards of cable and with no risk of cutting through it! If you buy the strimmer as well you have two interchangable batteries for up to 90 minutes work (and for little more than the retail cost of a battery on its own). I do have reservations about the switch however. I sent the first one back because it kept cutting out in normal use and giving it a good shake (without changing either trigger position) got it going again. The replacement is better but still a bit suspect. I think B&D need to do something to address this issue. I was mightily impressed with Amazon's return system. I was able to print my own free return label from their web site on a Sunday evening and to contact the couriers DHL at about midnight on their automated system. The package was collected at 9 a.m. Monday morning and a replacement was delivered to me 2 days later on the Wednesday at no cost to me at all. It has never worked continuously for more than 2 minutes but jams whenever it meets even a small twig- it than overheats and then will not work any more until it has been charged again. It is not fit for the purpose it was bought, but unfortunately I persevered with it until the 1 yr. warranty was just past. We have now discarded it and bought an electric trimmer with a cord which actually works. I could not believe that Black and Decker would produce such a useless product.It beggars belief.
