Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The best radio to get: good looking; simple to use; bargain price
Unless you want hi-fi quality sound, it's hard to see how anyone could do better than this simple easy to use DAB radio. It looks good, works straight out of the box and sounds perfectly OK especially at lower 'background' voulmes.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not a bad little set at all....
I bought this unit to supplement an Alba DAB with a white on blue scrolling display that has failed after 2 years... so the fact that this has an LCD display was a factor. I'm listening to it at present and the sound quality is good for a small radio, the styling too is pretty neat for a mains/battery radio.... but I'd say this wasn't a mains battery radio. The Alba takes a 240V input or batteries... this unit has a 9v external input and the power adaptor is a generic "block with pins". A small matter but I don't like such things - especially leaving them plugged in (any more than I like phone chargers etc.)
The controls on this unit are a lot better, very simple to use and almost intuitive. The Alba has a matrix of buttons on the front and you almost need a map to know what to do!
So, I give the beast 4 stars and hearty approval. If I didn't need a 9V adaptor I'd give it 5. The price of these units (refurbs, I believe) is a powerful factor too in reinforcing their bargain status.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Easy to use but let down by poor sound quality
I chose the Pure radio for its neat design and ease of use. I liked the way that you just switch it on and it tunes its self and displays information on available stations. For speech the radio sounds good but for music I am very disappointed hence only two stars.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mainstream listeners won't go wrong with this
Hardcore audiophiles might prefer a unit with optical connections etc, while gadget freaks will want a pause button and an SD-card slot. Early-risers might demand a clock-radio facility. For the rest of us, this does very nicely indeed.

The DAB side of things is a doddle to use -- just switch it on and it tunes itself in, after which you're only a few keypresses away from the desired station. There are eight presets, accessed through four numbered buttons and a shift button. Tuning and preset information is retained even if you don't install batteries -- I switched it off at the mains overnight and the setup was still there the next morning. Sound quality is very good. The unit will, of course, burble with the best of them if not given an adequate signal, but in my stone-walled cottage I don't even need to extend the telescopic aerial.

FM performance is competent, if marred by somewhat fiddly tuning -- the autoscan stops every time it hears a consistent crackle, meaning it's easier to use manual tuning. I ended up reading the desired frequency off another radio. Fortunately, with 8 non-volatile presets also available for FM, re-tuning shouldn't be a frequent event. As seems usual with small radios, FM is much clearer when you switch it to mono.

The case has a nice brushed metallic finish, and should appeal to those who think those retro wooden box affairs are already looking ... retro. One small gripe here is that the handle doesn't fold away fully into the back of the unit, but to be fair, because of the way the case is sculpted, the handle would have to rotate almost through 180 degrees to disappear completely.

All in all, it's hard to find a reason not to recommend this to anyone looking for a stylish, basic DAB radio.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excelent value and quality
This radio is great value for money. It can get the best signal on DAB. The tone quality is very good and really easy to use. Excelent value for money and a great entry into the whole digital world of radio.
