 Rating:  - Brilliant for OldiesI bought this for my mum who is the other side of 80. The reason I got it was because it is easily set up using the buttons on the front to play her favourite radio stations (press 1 for Radio 1, 2 for Radio 2, etc...) Good clear sound quality for a kitchen radio, and most importantly the signal does not get affected by low flying aircraft (she lives near an airport). It also looks smart! Rating:  - LOOKS GOOD - SOUNDS GOOD - BUT DOESN'T LASTI was given one as a present two years ago. After 6 months it just cut off and never came back to life. I took it back to ASDA who replaced it. Now 18 months later the on-off switch has failed on the new one. Wrote to ALBA Customer Services. Received reply today. We have had no reports of problems, they say, and refused to do anything. They clearly haven't read any Amazon reviews. Contacted Trading Standards who said that under the Sale of Goods Act, even though it is out of guarantee, I am entitled to expect it to last longer than this (6 years they say). So the fight goes on. Meanwhile it's back to my 38 year old FM radio! Rating:  - Lovely radio...but with a persistant faultI have had three of these Alba DAB radios. The first one lasted for two years, then one day the on/off switch broke and that was that. I had already bought one for my Mother by this point, and her's is (fingers crossed) still ok. I decided to take a risk and buy a replacement for myself but after only two months this has now broken, the same problem as before with the on/off switch. The radio is really nice, easy to use and has a generally good signal strength. However, I would not recommend it as it cannot be fixed easily when broken! Rating: - Sadly missedI brought one of these radios in Tescos just before christmas and fell in love with it!! It has excellent sound quality for a portable radio (infact much better than my friends very expensive DAB portable)I found it very easy to use and so did my 80 year old technophobic Grandmother. I would highly reccommend it. But the reason for the tile "Sadly missed" is becauseI must of had a faulty one as while listening intently to Dad's Army the other morning there was a pop/bang and smoke came out of the back and it died. Horrified I raced to Tesco for a exchange but alas it was a seasonal item, so I only got a refund not a replacement. So I am now on the prowl for a good deal to replace it. If you are looking for a easy, no fuss, no frills decent DAB/FM radio this is the one to go for without a doubt. But an important fact to remember never leave any electrical item on while you are not there! Rating:  - Alba TRDAB2820 DAB radioThere is a constant low hum interference on the digital tuner. Since digital radio is suppose to be all about interference free reception, this constant background hum sought of defeats the purpose of having a digital radio. It's okay for listening to around the house on a high sound volume (to drown out that background interference) but if you want to enjoy your listening experience on headphones or on a low volume, forget it.
