Editorial Review: Product Description: The ZEN Aurvana earphones from Creative has a carefully and intelligently conceived modern design that satisfies all the musical demands of even the stringiest music lovers. It has been conceived to give you pure listening pleasure! It uses the AuraSeal acoustic isolation technique that blocks up to 90% of the surrounding noise thereby enabling you to appreciate music and videos on your portable players even at low volume. All this is done while conserving its exceptional audio quality. Besides, its equilibrium membranes framework guarantee a compact design and a precise sound reproduction thanks to its oxygenless copper wire that significantly improves the signal quality. With the Zen Aurvana earphones, you benefit fully from your favourite music and do not run the risk of deteriorating your hearing. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Beautiful level of detail, but too loudWith these earphones, you have to be very careful about the volume settings before you press play if you want to avoid the real risk of damaging your hearing permanently. On most music players, the lowest volume setting is adequate, and above half volume is deafening. Overall, there is definitely an extra layer of detail to the sound which you don't get with a cheaper set of earphones and sometimes I even forget I am wearing them and assume the sound is coming from some speakers behind me. The sound insulation is so good I don't even hear the phone ringing two feet away from me. In truth, the Aurvana tag does describe these earphones quite well because your ears will react to the sound they produce and you will find it necessary to manage it using the music player's equaliser to get a comfortable sound. If you get it right, it is heavenly. Rating: - Sound - 10 Durability - 0Got these as a christmas present, was very pleased with the sound quality, noise cancelling works brilliantly on noisy aeroplanes, buses etc. However, after only 2 and a half months of use they packed up, the jack plug only picks up certain bits of the sound in certain positions so if you move your iPod/mp3 player just the slightest bit, it cuts out. Disappointed after promising start. Rating: - Good Sound but...I have owned the creative headphones for a little over 6 months now; Positive points: Good sound Good Isolation Nice Design Good selection of comfortable plugs Negative points Cable noise - there is a great deal of interferance when wearing the headphones under clothing as the wire knocks against the material Build Quality - although at first glance the headphones look to be a good quality, my headphones developed an annoying crackle fairly quickly and have now broken beond use after just over 6 months. This is most likely due to not keeping them in the case but I can see the problem developing after time even if the case is utilised for storage and transport. I have since purchased the Shure E2C for a bargain at 24.99 + P&P, I would recommend these oevr the Creative for both sound quality and build. There is no cable noise and the connection appears to be of a much greater build quality. Rating: - Brilliant But BlitedI completely agree with all of the previous reviewers; the sound quality is top of the range, yet be prepared only to experience this for less than a year. I've owned a range of in-ear headphones over the years, everything from the basic - and terrible - ipod in-ear, to sony's mid range and the shure ec2's. Out of all of these Creative's were the best for overall sound quality, and by some margin! The Shure's gave the "purest" sound in the mid to high range, however, for base they're hopeless, giving far too much emphasis upon the high end tones. The apple and sony lacked any depth to their sound, although they had the opposite problem to the Shures' of too much base. Creative have managed to get this balance just right, according to my ear. There's a great depth and warmth, showing a mastery of the mid to high range, with base that simply adds to anything you're listing to, rather than you craving more (the Shures') or distracting you from the song itself (apple and sony). All things being equal, I would recommend these headphones on sound quality with no hesitation, whatever the budget! But alas, the build quality is in opposition. After about 10months I experienced exactly the same "crackling" problems as the majority of the other reviewers and am writing this review as I'm in search for a new set. It's incredibly frustrating as Creative clearly have gone to great length to produce such great sound, yet seem to have forgotten to invest in durability...so close, yet so far Creative! However, the reason why I'm able to talk with experience, having consumed a good number of in-ear headphones, is because all of them have lasted for about 10-12months! I've always taken care. Increasingly so with each successive "replacement". Yet they've always had a similar limited shelf life. And, interestingly enough, with every single pair, the problem has always focused upon the connection with the jack - as other reviewers have mentioned. So, it could well be the case that this (10-12months) is a "normal" life expectancy for a frequently used in-ear headphone, regardless of make and price range! So, to conclude, assuming that most in-ear headphones only last for about 1 year, then these Creative headphones are indeed a very very good pair to consider, offering a market leading balance of sound for the price range. Rating: - Great till the broke few months laterI bought these not long ago and they worked like a treat with my Zen Vision M. I loved the sound, and like some comments here, you just need to fit them in your ear properly to get the perfect audio from them. The boosters really help with that. The trouble is they broke really quickly which I'm disappointed at because I look after my things. Ie make sure I pull them out from their jack rather than tugging on the wires to pull them out a socket, but despite my being careful the sound out of one earphone has gone due to a deterioration in the wiring where the jack meets and the cables that lead to the earphones. For the price I paid I would have expected them to be a little more robust. Shame now I have to look for another pair Try searching the Internet for "Creative Aurvana In-Ear Earphones" or Ebay for "Creative Aurvana In-Ear Earphones".
