Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Great but may be failing now
Had mine for several months now been very reliable but recently has started to slow down even with new batteries I would assume it's wearing out, shame
One suggestion It's a shame it is white in colour as it very quickly gets stained when opening tins of beans, soup etc manufactures let's have a black one next time.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Cheap rubbish which cannot perform its only function properly
My mother bought one of these because she is having trouble with her arms and wanted to open cans more easily. It is now at the back of the kitchen draw along with all the other disappointing gadgets and she's back to a regular can opener.

I really didn't believe that a device this simple, which is supposed to do only one simple thing - open cans - could be so bad at its one job. It's not a food processor which has to be versatile and good at loads of things. It has one simple job to do, the only one it is designed for.

And it's rubbish. It really struggles to open cans - it's rather like trying to tow a caravan with an old Mini - it just feels totally underpowered for the task - except it's supposed to be designed for it and nothing else!

The motor screams and whines its way agonisingly slowly around even the smallest cans and shudders up and down, stalling every so often so you have to prod it to help it over a particularly difficult bit. You end up with it opening the can after several attempts, so the resulting can is jagged and bent and looks like it's been opened by hurling it against the rock.

However, once it's finally ground to a suddering halt and has finally managed to open the whole can, it suddenly gets a new lease of life! When the can is open it's supposed to stop automatically and you just lift it off...

Oh no, not mine! Once the hard work is over, this baby wants to have fun and keep whizzing fast around the now-open can, clutching onto the side while the lid falls in the can. The motor will now not turn off, and you end up having to wrestle with it to force it off the can - needless to say, my Mother could not handle this - it was supposed to be an aid but it's way harder work than a manual one!

By the time you've wrestled it off and it's finally screeched to a stop, the can is more battered than ever and half of the contents are on the floor having slipped past the jagged edges.

A poor quality, badly designed, overpriced product which is simply not fit for purpose. Amazon should be ashamed of selling this rubbish - it's not worthy of their site.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's weird.
This must rank as one of the handiest home gadgets I've ever purchased. It arrived this morning and after two AA batteries were fitted, it was ready for action.

Was I prepared for how it works? I knew yes but the visual impact is another matter. Place it on a Can so it sits perfectly at a slight angle and press and let go the button. This little alien then develops a life of it's own as it whizzes around the Can and only stops when the lid has been totally cut. Even if it doesn't cut first time around, it'll go back to the bit that needs more attention and then when satisfied, it just stops and you lift off the lid. It would be a boon for anybody with hand problems and knocks the socks off the conventional openers I have.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - What more do you want ?
This can opener works fine with every can that I have thrown in its way. With my arthritis this product helps and has not let me down.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Good, some of the bad reviews on here seem factually wrong
I bought this in spite of some of the bad reviews on here and I can only conclude the model has been improved or some people bought a cheaper alternative.

One reviewer said you had to unscrew it to put batteries in, that's just not correct. Another says there is no way to remove it if it's batteries run low, this is also wrong, it has a reverse button to help release it and if the batteries completely die it has a large easily accessible screw to wind it off manually. Maybe the negative reviewers needed to read the instructions more carefully. After either of the actions you have to reset it for it to work properly again.

So far this had worked flawlessly on every tin thrown at it, even my mum can use it, the first ever electric can opener she's ever been able to use.

For £6 and change it's worth every penny.
