 Rating:  - Blimey!Just had one of these delivered from Amazon and I've got to say it's a pretty damn funky bit of kit!! The postman has only just delivered it and it's working already. Wonders will never cease! In my experience things rarely do what it says on the tin, and with technology it's always more fiddly than the manufacturers let on, so you buy something only to find it's not compatible with something else or you need to buy some other bit to make it work or upgrade this or download that. And as a result of these previous bad experiences with other brands and products I was so sceptical about this that I nearly didn't buy it But I have to say, I got it out of the box. I switched it on (fearing the worst), it asked me for the password for my wireless network and then music came out. I nearly dropped it I was so suprised! Very groovy Rating: - INTEMPO DIGITAL GX-01 Internet RadioI bought this radio to replace a DAB (The Bug), which had given up the ghost. The main reason I didn't get another DAB one was I was fed up with it cutting in/out when I used electrical appliances etc in the kitchen. Now for the review of this radio: 1)Connecting to Wireless This was extremely easy, I have WPA encryption on my wirelesee network and the radio recognised this and simply asked for the Passcode, and connected with no problem. 2)Finding stations, this can be done in 2 ways: a)You can trawl through an endless list of station, on a location (ieUK) followed by alphabetically, this is time comsuming, the uk has 1800 stations and this is a lot to go through. b)You can do this online get you rradio serial number, go to the reciva website setup a free account, then you can add station/podcasts to you r hearts content. 3) Quality/buffering, The quality of the sations is acoustically better than my dab, radio and I have no problems with the stations buffering on/off, basically after selecting the radio staion the radio buffers for about 5 seconds, then plays seemlessly for the next 5 hours(the longest i have had it on for) 4)Podcasts, this is a brilliant feature, you can use the radio to listen to any podcast, they play seamlessly. 5)I cannot stress enough how easy this radio was to set up. Hope you find this useful Rating:  - Dissapointing remote control and sound quality.This unit comes at a good price from Amazon, particularly with free delivery BUT: 1. The remote control has no separate buttons. It only has dimples on the surface which respond poorly if at all to your key pushes. In my case the battery compartment was also stuck closed and so the battery could not be replaced. 2. The sound quality of the unit is perhaps fine for music, but dissapointingly heavy or bassy and lacking in clarity for speech. There is no tone control. The buttons on the radio fascia are also small and fiddly. The fake wood veneer was also very pale and unconvincing compared to the photograph on the Amazon image. Item was returned the next day for refund. Disappointing. Rating: - More of the same.... excellent!Lots of people have said how great this machine is, and I wont rehearse what they have said. But I must just enthuse about how pleased I have been so far. Opened it an hour ago, and have already tested it out and it really is so easy to just listen to BBC shows on demand (lots of them, and from different days of the week), connect to PC and also listen to radio in countries all over the world. It will completely transform my radio listening... Just one comment: this is a 'bedside' radio. The speaker is not huge, the output is not loud, and the quality is not as clear as a digital radio. It suits me absolutely fine, and the benefit of internet stations far outweighs sound quality. BUT if you want crystal clear sound, or a really loud machine, and don't want to use 'listen again' features, or listen to stations that are unavailable on a digital radio, I think you'd be better off just buying a DAB. INTERNET RADIO IS THE WAY FORWARD ! Cheers Rating: - Forget DAB if you have wireless internetWe moved away from London and found that we could no longer get a good clear reception of LBC so we had to listen on Sky which meant our TV had to be on in the bedroom and hated it because of the light from the TV screen I bought Intempo because it was cheap and if I did not like I could send back. All I can say, FORGET DAB Radio, if you have wireless internet, get an Internet Radio the are the best thing. I would have given 5 stars but for one thing, I found if my wireless SSID was hidden I could not get connection to the Internet, which for security I like to hide my wirelsss SSID. That is the only con for me. Apart from that, it has an alarm and sleep function which is what we needed. We can no fall asleep and wake to LBC + loads and loads and loads and loads and loads of other stations from around the world!
