![]() Rating: - Brilliant Piece of kitUpdated my TomTom 930 to this one, it's fantastic. Small enough to fit into your pocket, light and packed with so many features i haven't yet managed to use them all! Lane guidance is brilliant, very clear directions. Hands free calling also fantastic, IQ routes works out the best route based on avge. traffic for the time of day you are traveling. Subscribe to safety cameras and it's a camera detector too. Everything you could ever want, plus free traffic updates, which usually you have to pay to download through your phone. Buy this today! Rating: - RDS Traffic Reciever works perfectlyThis is the first sat nav system Ive bought and it does pretty much what it says on the tin. The only bug bear is the lack of map correction for road changes, the maps arent particularly up to date. I read the reviews saying the Traffic system didnt work but its worked perfectly for me on each and every journey that Ive used sat nav on. Absolutely no problems. This is without doubt one of those 'how did I do without' products. Highly recommended and something I would buy again in a heartbeat. Rating: - Gimmicks Gimmicks GimmicksFirst off voice input is a joke: you have to press loads of buttons to get to it anyway! This satnav is my first though I've used my boss's simple garmin lots over the past few years. I went with this one beacause of IQ routes and Lane Guidance but these are totally irrelevant when you realise how bad it's maps are. I live in North London an area you would expect to be well mapped but no, TomTom has no idea of loads of 'no left/right turn' signs or 'one way' streets. I can't believe how bad some of the mistakes are including turnings onto major roads like the North Circular and the majority of the residential roads! It's ridiculous. The screen is dim and useless in my convertable with the top down. Now it keeps losing settings and while TomTom customer services are polite and have sent some settings via email I'm still not happy. As far as I can tell 'IQ Routes' seems only to differentiate between weekday and weekend and not time of day as advertised. On the plus side there are millions of settings you can play about with, it has loads of POIs, and the traffic warnings are fantastic well worth the extra £10 on top of the normal 730. It also has a lovely on screen keyboard much better than Garmin. Overall though I'm gutted I paid loads of extra money to get a top of the range product that really is no more useful then a normal one. My advice is buy one with the best maps and make sure its compatible with your phone. Rating: - worth itheld off buying a satnav for a long time. don't bother with the traffic version - save yourself 20 quid - does not work in UK. IQ feature is very good indeed - chooses different routes depending on the time of day and has been v. accurate so far. lane feature is good stops last minute lane jumping - works on some big A roads as well e.g. A1. voice feature is good- very accurate recognition of most roads. definitely recommended do they do a Captain Mainwaring voice? - that would complete the experience. Rating: - Are the extra fatures really worth it for me?Use Tom Tom's extensively travelling the length and breadth of Britain weekly, and into Europe occasionally. After the wheel they are the next best thing man has invented. When my 520 mount gave up charging the original Tom Tom I bought with any degree of success I had to rely on the V1 (think it was called that, the cheapest one anyway) that I had to buy when the 520 had to be sent back originally. So I had to look for a new unit and chose the 730T. Here are some observations so far (not wishing to simply repeat what others have written). The lovely size comes at the cost of battery life - switches off almost without warning (I recommend buying a double socket adaptor that Amazon sell, length of lead from socket to socket doubler a little too short but nevertheless worth it) - I would recommend one of the older and chunkier units if you intend going rambling etc. An annoying feature is that the 730 does not list the exact destination by house number when you turn into the road like my faithful 520 did - I mainly have seven or eight drops in a day delivering pre-owned B&O gear and I key in the addresses prior to setting off. However when you turn into the road it doesn't list the house number which can be a bit of a time waste,a minor niggle for me but one that should be noted for multi-drop drivers considering this unit. It is great having features like playing through your radio etc., but for me the speaker is perfectly adequate and there was minor feedback problems through the car radio anyway, don't use the text feature or any of the more advanced features so why then did I buy it at the extra cost? The traffic feature - which does not work at all on my unit and hence it is being returned. Amazon offer excellent support, but take for example this itinerary. Wednesday 1600 start driving from Gatwick to Edinburgh, returning Thursday night. Friday in London all day, Saturday to Bellenaves, a few hundred miles South of Paris, returning Sunday evening. Not one traffic signal - annoyed - but it didn't seem to matter on any of these journeys, so makes me think what is the point of having it anyway! Then again, will re-order another because the one time it saves me being stuck in a huge traffic jam will be worth the money! Tom Tom's are not perfect by any means, but they are still fantastic and 999/1000 do journeys without fuss, if you re-route or take a wrong turn. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I haven't had any chance to evaluate the one feature I bought it for, but am sure it will be sorted in time. Still fantastic but not without these minor niggles. Try searching the Internet for "TomTom GO 730T Satellite Navigation System" or Ebay for "TomTom GO 730T Satellite Navigation System".
