Rating: - Everyone should read this book!I am not a medical student, just someone interested in the brain and how it works : I have only read books at the level of Robert Winston's "The Human Mind" before, but this book amazed me by it's depth and how well it was explained for the lay reader. When I first received the book, I was daunted at it's size but - at the same time - I had a tingle of anticipation and I just could not wait to start reading it! I initially expected to read as far as I could before it got too technical, but I got right to the end with no real problems (-although the chemistry chapter was hard going). The text is so clear and the (hundreds of) diagrams so good that I felt that with a bit of effort, I could really internalise it. Of course, as I had no exam and was reading purely for pleasure, I didn't make the ultimate effort in areas I was not directly interested in. In summary, this book is a "must" for anyone interested in how the brain works, the different bits, how senses and nerves function, etc. I'd recommend it to anyone... ..and I haven't even looked at the CD-ROM yet!! Rating: - Most useful! This is probably one of the most useful (And affordable) neuroscience texts a student could ask for. Although not recommended for my course as much as other texts, I have found this far more useful (And again affordable) than any of the recommended and core text books. Simple to understand with explanatory diagrams over several fields in neuroscientific studies. Highly recommended book for neuroscientists at any level Rating: - You will wanna read this over many novels :)This is a wonderful book. It has great pictures, tests, figures, tables and you name it. One of the most "easy to learn complex stuff" from books. Any student interested in Neuroscience or any reasearch to do with the brain will love this book either as an introduction or to complete any medical neuroscience exam. Rating: - 1 OF THE BEST NEUROSCIENCE/ NEUROPHYSIOLOGY BOOKS AVAILABLEI am a first year psychology student and have found this book to be brilliant. It has helped me carry out all my work to a high standard. Its written with great clarity and has interesting 'extras' that give you the real life significance of things! You will thank yourself for buying it- I KNOW I DID!!! Rating: - brilliant and to the pointi am an undergraduate in pharmacology and toxicology and find that this books offers a clear view of topics that many students often find difficult.
