Rating:  - Armed with informationArmed with info from this book I set about putting it into practice and bought off plan. I was able to use my negotiating skills which were backed up by what Annie Hulley said in the book. Things like the aspect of the property and the square footage made perfect sense but are things that you can forget in the heat of the moment. The buy to let section is very comprehensive and I am in the process of buying a second 'off plan' property. I use this book as a reference and feel its spot on. My daughter is a student so the shared ownership section about how to get on the ladder is useful and other books don't go into it. its a good read too and not too dry. a good buy. He was delighted with it and as a result we have just bought a flat together using all the tips and negotiating advice that are mentioned in the book...as a result we got a substantial discount on the property and a car park space thrown in. I like all the info about investing in Spain too as my mum and dad want to retire there and now know a lot more about the pitfalls. A must buy.Ray Cox Rating:  - Amateurish and often plain wrongLuckily I borrowed this book from my local library before deciding whether to buy it or not - the decision is not! It is a waste of time and money. The advice it gives is pretty basic and I often disagree with it because it actually leads to excessive taxation or excessive risk. There are much smarter ways to invest in property and none of them are covered here. If you have any financial intelligence, don't buy this book! Rating: - A good practical bookThis is a must for anybody interested in property. It's packed full of useful information that is well laid out and abundantly clear. It covers a lot of ground, is full of sensible advice, well written and aimed at a readership that would like to take an active interest in building up a property portfolio as a nestegg or as an alternative business.
