Great pictures and accurate information ensure that this book is one that will continually be referenced by the enthusiast. If you are not into vintage Action Man then it's probably not for you, but collectors and kids of all ages will love this book. With the launch of the 40th Anniversary figures and outfits and the potential for new interest in 'vintage' Action Man, this book would be my choice as the one book to have in your collection. Rating:  - Buy it if you owned one or are going to collect toysMaybe you owned an Action man in the 1970's? or are collecting Vintage Action Men? then you should buy this book. I bought this for my husband and he sat there page after page "I had this one" "my friend had that one" "wow, I always wanted this one" This is not a 'five star' book though, we appreciate the effort that has gone in to it, a lot of care, and it's a great price but I must admit I found the customer reviews that were slightly critical actually helpful and true even though it seems anyone who hasn't rated this book with five stars gets marked as unhelpful, Hmm... Sorry to those who think this book is perfect, I give 3 stars which is ok surely?, he now is already looking at other old toy books and I see there are more for Action Man! Rating: - Full of detailed information & wonderfully illustrated.This book is the best collector's guide we own! It is full of concise and clear information about the Action Man range from the very first dolls and accessories released right up to a small section at the end regarding the current range. The photographs illustrating the various types of doll, uniform, accessories & vehicles and the ways in which each has changed over the decades etc are all large & in colour and the detailed descriptions of what each item is comprised of, is an absolute godsend for novice collectors such as we are as it clearly explains all the bits and pieces which should be included for an item to be sold as 'complete'. There are also lots of very useful hints, tips & cautionary warnings which will help the inexperienced collector to avoid costly mistakes. This is the sort of collecting guide book there should be more of! Lots of colour photos & concise descriptions which together help the collector to easily recognise the genuine from the fakes and the bargains from the blunders, only ever having seen the item previously, on the page of a book. If you can only afford to buy one guide to help you in your hunt for Action Man products, this book is well worthy of your hard earned cash. Rating:  - An Indispensible guide for Action Man Collectors.I have found this guide indispensible in recognising Vintage Action Man items and this book will be invaluable to the serious and novice collector alike. All the main outfits are here with all the accessories associated with them so you can build your collection from the basic jacket and trouser to the full outfit. Lots of good close ups of those hard to identify bits and pieces. My only complaint is that lots of the equipment bits and pieces have not been covered in much detail such as guns etc and a few of the really hard to find outfits are not listed. Even so it is an excellent book which will not gather dust if you collect Action Man! (Stephen Riley) Rating: - Probably the best Action Man book available!At last a true book on the subject of Action Man. As a serious collector this book has taken along time coming, at least 13 years! I for one am totally impressed! Kevin was one of the pioneers of the Action Man scene. Probably one of the few collectors who has the knowledge and a collection (all his own) to be able to write this book. For all those new collectors you do not realise how lucky you are. If only this book had been available at the first Bovington and Cheshunt, I may have brought a few different items. This is to date the most comprehensive book, on the subject, allowing the reader/collector to see every item available, figures, outfits, vechiles and accessories in full colour. It gets straight to the heart of the subject rather than diversifying off into areas that are of irrelevence to the collector or the reader. It enables the new collector to see everything available in the Action Man range, perhaps a bit daunting, as well as allowing the serious collector a chance to see all the difficult and finishing pieces at close quarter. Perhaps for the first time ever the underwater accessories can be seen in full colour. It also contains a realistic price and rarity guide. I cannot say how much I have enjoyed this book. It is often hard to display your collection, but this book allows you to see it at anytime. Thanks for the hard work in putting this book together. The hours spent on getting the book together and the many years running around building your collection, it has all been worthwhile.
