![]() Rating: - Oh Dear!Have to disagree with some of the reviews on here. Yes, this book is a good read and does give you an insight into the many problems one may encounter in the shark-infested waters of 'Estate Agents' in Cyprus. However, one must be clear about the actual book itself. It is riddled with typos, spelling mistakes and bad grammar etc. I find it unlikely this book was ever proof-read because of the many errors. I do understand that the book is written by a 'first timer' and the author does state that he is no writer but it IS let down by silly errors such as a quote from Star Trek's Dr Spock! Just for the record, Star Trek's Spock was NOT a doctor but Dr McCoy was. This may sound like nit picking but this is just one of the many errors. I also could not help feeling that the couple were somewhat naive to say the least. Reading this out aloud to my wife we quickly came to the conclusion that the author and his wife saw pound signs and less a new life. Buy-to-let's, property renovation and off-plans all within a few weeks...Hmmm. So, should you buy it? Well it will help you get an insight into buying property and that is the reason for the book even if it is a little overpriced. Buy it for research but not for a well presented informative read. Rating: - You Must Buy This BookIf you are in any way considering buying property in Cyprus then you have to read this brilliantly written humourous and informative book. My Wife and I are considering moving to Cyprus and this book is certainly going to be my Bible to help protect us from the pitfalls and those who would part us from our money for thier own benefit. How good is this book? Well I read it in one day and enjoyed all of it. The story of a can do couple fighting through a sea of sharks and ultimatly learning some lessons the hard way but fighting through. Rating: - good advice! If you're thinking of investing in Cyprus, then read this book 1st. It really tells the warts and all of investing, letting, renovating etc in Cyprus. Some very good adviced based on the author's experiences over his year or so of living and dealing in property in Cyprus - definitely the things the estate agents won't tell you about! There is also a website with links to useful information mentioned in the book and a forum for advice: www.ThingsTheEstateAgentsDontTellYou.com If you read this 1st hopefully you'll be going into things with your eyes open and won't get ripped off as so many do! Rating: - Brave!!We need more books like this to tell the reality. I've read other guides on buying in Cyprus which give all the facts and figures, but this book really goes into the reality - we it seems these facts and figures aren't worth the paper they are written on! Pete has written about his real life experiences and shows the reality of the property market in Cyprus and all the problems you could run into. This book will help you if you are looking to do anything property related, as they tried everything! It's not written like a guide, so you do have to read through the story to pick out the main bits of information that you are after, but it is a good humorous read, so won't bore you even with the seriousness of the information provided. Rating: - Paul from AnerdeenThe author gives you a warts and all story on his 1st years experiences as a property investor in Cyprus - the style of the book is good...it feels like you're sat with him and he's relating his tales to you. At the end he says it's likely that others will go through the same pains as him...at least if you have read this book you won't be too surprised when things don't go according to plan. As Pete points out, every Estate Agent, no matter how nice he/she might seem, are in it for the same reason....they're not your buddy, they are earning a living Try searching the Internet for "Cyprus Things the Estate Agents Don't Tell You" or Ebay for "Cyprus Things the Estate Agents Don't Tell You".
