It has been written to develop mathematical subject knowledge required for teaching the National curriculum and Numeracy Strategy. It is therefore ideally aimed at trainee students from a non mathematical discipline. It sucessfully tackles the importance of childrens misconceptions and highlights through examples the importance of concise subject knowledge essentially required by the trainee. Of all the primary mathematical books available to assist in subject knowledge, this has to be one of the best. All the information is linked to the standards that have to be met before QTS can be achieved. It is easy to read, contains references to research material and self assessment activities.
