Discounts and extras - 2008/03/13 12:20 Hi,

I hope this is the right please to ask questions on negotiating with builders.

We have seen a lovely house (our dream home) up for £229,950. They are offering a part-ex deal but I wondered how much they would be prepared to discount.

I have looked on other forums and was told due to the current market to start with an offer of £175k working up to a maximum of £200k

Did anyone have success with negoating a great deal

Thoughts?

Thanks very much!

Re:Discounts and extras - 2008/03/13 17:41 If you are part exchanging, the discussion point is going to be what they are willing to pay for your house

Re:Discounts and extras - 2008/03/13 18:41 Yes of course, but in the current market good deals can be negotiated.

I am just interested as to what previous customers had managed (ie, 10% off the asking price, 20% etc etc)

Re:Discounts and extras - 2008/03/26 22:27 We are also looking to purchase new build but not with a part exchange offer, no idea how to negotiate as never bought a new build before and no idea what percentage of the asking price to offer, can anyone help?

Re:Discounts and extras - 2008/03/26 23:49 Hi Jackie,

They will generally not igve you a discount as this down values the whole estate - they will offer cashback, stamp duty paid and extras. Just remember that some of the extras are low quality - e.g. landscaping to rear would mean cheap turf. Don't be too keen.

Re:Discounts and extras - 2008/03/29 11:01 Thanks very much Tony, I'm just trying to find out now something about Antler homes who are building thesem, I've not heard of them but they don't seem to feature on this site which I'm pleased about.
